Poutine



Poutine is a popular dish where I live, in the Canadian province of Quebec. It comes from the Centre-du-Québec area and emerged in the 1950s.  Several restaurants from this area claim to be the inventor of this wonderful dish, like Le Roy Jucep in Drummondville, La petite vache in Princeville and also Le lutin qui rit in Warwick but nobody knows the truth about this serious question.


 Poutine is made with French fries and cheese topped with a brown gravy, but there is a lot of regional variations. A lot of people, like me, appreciate this dish. Poutine is a symbol of Quebec's culture. It can be eaten as a main course or as a side dish. Originally, poutine was eaten in casse-croûtes, a "greasy spoon" type dinners in the province of Quebec. It can also be eaten hockey arena, a popular sport in Canada. Because of its popularity, poutine can be found in almost every restaurant.
In the northern border regions of the United States, there is also poutine.


One year ago, during summer, I went to Old Orchard with my family and I ate poutine pizza. Poutine was not really like the one we have in Quebec and it was not so good, but I would like to return to Old Orchard and eat poutine pizza.


To finish, poutine is liked by a lot of people in Quebec and even by some in the United States. It is an important part of Quebec's traditional cuisine.
There is even a picture of poutine pizza, but not the one I ate in Old Olchard.
